Chris Soentpiet (pronounced soon-pete) was born January 3, 1970, in Seoul, Korea. In 1978, he was adopted by an American family in Hawaii. He became an illustrator and author of childrens' books. His illustrations have been praised as warm, detailed, and lively. His work has received a number of awards and honors.
